Inside UD Max Tapes production

UDMAX Tapes is a producer of thermoplastic unidirectional composite tapes within Özer. Our proprietary High Pressure Fibre Impregnation Technology, HPFIT®, delivers lightweight solutions that make economic sense.

We combine optimal fibre spreading with a resin-rich surface layer at high fibre contents. Our materials serve applications requiring strength and stiffness, with processing routes suited to mass production.

From automotive components and sandwich panels to pipes and pressure vessels, UDMAX® helps customers develop lighter composite solutions.

HPFIT® Technology

Our patented High Pressure Fibre Impregnation Technology combines optimal fibre spreading with thorough thermoplastic resin impregnation, even at high fibre contents.

HPFIT® creates resin-rich layers on both the upper and lower surfaces of the tape. During lamination, this surface resin supports fusion between compatible thermoplastic layers, consolidation and interlayer bonding.

  • Excellent fiber impregnation

Thermoplastic resin distributed through the reinforcing fibres.

  • Optimal fiber spreading

Uniform fibre distribution for a consistent tape structure.

  • Resin-rich surfaces

Surface resin supports fusion between compatible layers during lamination.

  • High fiber content

Up to 80% fibre content for strong, lightweight composites.

  • Twist-free fiber orientation

Aligned continuous fibres carry loads along the tape direction.

Tape winding · Process illustration

Filament winding with thermoplastic tapes

Tape Winding

After slitting, UDMAX® tapes are unwound and wrapped around a rotating pipe mandrel or vessel liner. Heat fuses the thermoplastic surfaces together, while roller pressure consolidates each layer. No adhesive is used.

Application
Composite Pipes, Pressure Vessels
  1. Slit & unwindNarrow tapes feed from the roll under controlled tension.
  2. Heat, wind & compactHeat the bonding interface and press the tape onto the rotating form.
  3. Build the layersRepeat at the selected winding angles to create the laminate.

Panel Solutions
with Different Cores

UDMAX® tape or crossply skins unwind from the upper and lower rolls, while the selected core enters through the central feed table. Thermal fusion bonds the compatible layers in a double belt press, with pressure and cooling forming the sandwich panel. No adhesive is used.
