Continuous fiber reinforced thermoplastic tapes combine aligned reinforcement fibers with a thermoplastic matrix to deliver strength, stiffness and lightweight performance. UDMAX® tapes are available with PP, HDPE and PA6 matrices for a range of application requirements.

Produced with our High Pressure Fibre Impregnation Technology, HPFIT®, these tapes can be slit, combined into crossply laminates or integrated into sandwich panels and composite components.

From Fiber to Performance

UDMAX Tapes is a producer of thermoplastic unidirectional composite tapes within Özer. Our proprietary High Pressure Fibre Impregnation Technology, HPFIT®, delivers lightweight solutions that make economic sense.

We combine optimal fibre spreading with a resin-rich surface layer at high fibre contents. Our materials serve applications requiring strength and stiffness, with processing routes suited to mass production.

From automotive components and sandwich panels to pipes and pressure vessels, UDMAX® helps customers develop lighter composite solutions.

Patented HPFIT® Technology

Our patented High Pressure Fibre Impregnation Technology combines optimal fibre spreading with thorough thermoplastic resin impregnation, even at high fibre contents.

HPFIT® creates resin-rich layers on both the upper and lower surfaces of the tape. During lamination, this surface resin supports fusion between compatible thermoplastic layers, consolidation and interlayer bonding.

Stronger Bond

Resin at the tape surface helps compatible thermoplastic layers fuse under heat and pressure, supporting strong interlayer bonding in laminates and composite skins.

Better Welding

The resin-rich surface provides thermoplastic material at the joining interface. When heated, it can melt and fuse with a compatible surface, supporting thermal welding and consolidation.

Processing Solutions

Tape Winding

Filament winding with thermoplastic tapes

After slitting, UDMAX® tapes are unwound and wrapped around a rotating pipe mandrel or vessel liner. Adhesive-free thermal lamination fuses the thermoplastic surfaces with heat, while roller pressure consolidates each layer.

Panel Solutions
with Different Cores

Double belt press lamination

UDMAX® tape or crossply skins unwind from the upper and lower rolls, while the selected core enters through the central feed table. Adhesive-free thermal lamination bonds the compatible skins and core in a double belt press, using controlled heat, pressure and cooling to form the sandwich panel.

Overmolding

Thermoforming with Injection Molding

UDMAX® tape laminates and woven tape preforms are heated and shaped as the mold closes. Compatible thermoplastic is then injected onto the reverse side to create reinforcing ribs, grid structures and mounting features in the same molding cycle.

From UD tape to a functional component

  1. Heat & form the UD tape preform.
  2. Inject the ribs and functional details.
  3. Cool and release the finished component.
